Another ultraportable Dell, this AMD based (and cheaper)

Last week we featured a nice little semi-rugged ultraportable (or notelet as I like to call it) from Dell, and while it seemed just a little underpowered for the price, its build quality might make up for it. And here we have another ultraportable, an Inspiron popping up at Dell Singapore. Powered by the latest mobile AMD chipset and Neo processors and the usual better-than-netbook-but-not-quite-notebook specs, it looks like a perfectly decent little guy.

Here are the key stats for the M301z:

13.3″ “Widescreen HD” – implies 1366×768Athlon II Neo K325@1.3 GHz or Turion II Neo K625@1.5 GHz2GB DDR3 1066MHz RAM (4GB max.)Mobility Radeon HD 4225 (essentially onboard)Optional webcam (how can this now be optional?) ?)2x USB 2.0, 1xeSATA/USB 2.0, multi-card reader, the usual other connections

More important for its "ultaportable" status is that it's less than an inch thin and weighs a...well, not exceptionally light 3.9 pounds. It starts at 999SGD, or about $720. Not a bad buy if you're me ask! We'll probably be launching many more lightweight AMD models and we'll keep you posted on the most interesting ones.
