Lenovo is responding to COVID-19

Giving back to the communities we call home

The Lenovo Foundation continues to play a leading role in supporting the global response to COVID-19 by donating technology to new hospitals treating patients as well

Researchers studying the virus

Providing software and hardware for schools to run online and providing donations from our employees worldwide. Our support is both large and small - it focuses on real needs and where our own Lenovo teams are nearby and in able to support you. I am confident that the cumulative impact of the $6.7 million we have donated to date will go where it matters most.

care for our people

As a global company, Lenovo has felt the impact of the virus and is responding by empowering local leaders to act with the well-being of our teams as their top priority. This initially meant that our teams in China were working remotely while other parts of the world theirs Support increased as they were not yet affected. Now offices and factories have reopened in China, but the spread of the virus has prompted executives in countries like Europe and North America to ask employees who have the opportunity to work remotely. In a rapidly changing situation, flexibility is important. I've seen this with our suppliers, our partners, the wider industry, and especially Lenovo teams worldwide. I'm grateful for how our people and partners have pulled together to build our Helping customers and supporting each other. I am also proud that we are introducing new roles for Mi workers in segments reduced by the economic impact of the virus. No one knows how long our daily lives will be disrupted, but we are committed to following the guidelines set by local authorities in each market to do everything we can to to help and above all to ensure the health and safety of our employees.

Focus on our customers

Over the past two months, I have been amazed at the dedication of our teams to keeping our partners and customers informed and ensuring our operations run as smoothly as possible. While amazed, I am not surprised as I have seen how our teams pulled together in many challenging situations and delivered for our customers. With our factories in China closed for a few weeks, our supply chain team gathered to examine how we could leverage our global footprint of 30+ manufacturing sites, to adjust capacity and refocus production.Although the factory closures in China had a short-term impact on production and supply, we were able to minimize it as much as possible. As the demand for remote working technologies and solutions increases, I see teams being creative, how they can quickly support customers around the world who are changing their work practice en and prioritize customers who are on the front lines in dealing with the coronavirus situation.

The current situation is unprecedented and many challenges remain. However, I know that we will do everything to support our employees and they will do everything to support our customers.

looking ahead

This is a challenging time for all of us. I know people are concerned about how this may affect their families, their workplaces, their local communities and every aspect of their lives. I know this because I have the same concerns , since COVID-19 led to the extension of the Lunar New Year holiday and the closure of offices and schools across China.

In tough times like these, it helps to remember that we all want the same thing: for the people we care about to stay healthy, for the effects of the virus to wear off, treatments to be developed, and life to return to normal. That shared feeling of hope and purpose can encourage each of us during this difficult time and help us to overcome the challenges we face. Thank you to everyone at Lenovo for everything they are doing to help not only Lenovo, but customers as well who count on us and the communities we call home. Together I know we can overcome these challenges.
