HP Envy 15 Laptop, Intel Core i7-10750H, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti Graphics, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD Storage, 15.6" Full HD Touchscreen, Windows 10 Home, Fingerprint Reader (15- ep0010nr, model 2020)

If you're buying this laptop you want a quality machine but also want to save a few bucks over Dell, Apple or Microsoft. I decided the savings wasn't worth it, but that will vary from person to person. Here are those Tradeoffs you make for this device: Screen quality: You get a 16:9 aspect ratio, which is worse for productivity than a 16:10 (Dell XPS lineup, Macbook lineup) or a 3:2 (Surface Book) .The screen is also quite shaky; it's not enough to render the touchscreen unusable, but it reminds you of its cheapness every time you adjust the screen or move your laptop and you watch the screen shake back and forth top of the computer and some when you press the keyboard. Again, not as much of an issue, but this definitely has worse build quality than Dell, Apple, or Microsoft he uses vapor chamber cooling so I have no idea why the fans need to be on so often. Note that by default the device also boots with "fan always on" and you have to go into the bios (reboot and spam the escape key) to turn them off. For some reason the HP help page doesn't mention this when you look for "fans always on". Turning it off gives you some peace of mind, but the fans still spin up even if you're just watching a YouTube video. Keyboard: It's ok for a laptop keyboard, but the silver finish and the white backlight don't do well. It's difficult to read the function keys with the lights off, but it's difficult to read each key in a well-lit room when the lights are on.Speakers: don't get as loud, are not as clear and lacking in much bass as the Dell XPS range, which still lags quite a bit behind Macbook speakers. If you're using headphones exclusively then it's fine, but this and that Fan noise results in poor quality viewing of videos and movies through the speakers. Weight: It's both physically larger and heavier than an XPS 15 or a Macbook Pro 16. Less portable. It barely fits in my backpack, stretching and leaves almost no room for other items. If you leave this on a desk all the time and don't travel with it, that's fine, but it's a chore if you want to take it to work or school every day.
